Chamber Mentorship Program

The Chamber Mentorship Program is designed to provide young advanced string players to get a chance to work with some of Canada's most sought-after chamber musicians. This intensive experience will include in-depth rehearsals on a chamber music masterwork, private lessons, master class, string orchestra, and other activities throughout the week, culminating in a performance as part of the 2020 festival programming. Participants will also receive a free pass to all festival concerts. 

All participants will be billeted in Caledon, and tuition covers room and board.



  • Advanced string players (RCM Gr. 10 or higher equivalent)

  • Age 22 or under

*Festival activities begin on the morning of Monday, August 10th, and the final concert is on Sunday, August 16th at 2pm.

  • Sunday, August 18th 1pm Soundcheck; 2pm at Alton Mill Arts Centre

Once we receive everyone's application, then selected participants will be assigned to a chamber group. Repertoire for 2020 Chamber Mentorship Program includes

Mendelssohn Octet in E-flat major (1st movement)

Elgar String Serenade

Dvorak String Quintet in G major (1st movement)

Dvorak String Sextet in A major (1st movement)

A classical string quartet TBA

Application Requirement:

  • A recording of a solo or sonata movement from Classical, Romantic, or Contemporary period. (15 minutes or less)

  • Video is preferred, but audio is also acceptable.
