Flutist Sarah Moon
Toronto-based Flutist Sarah Moon enjoys an active performance and teaching career all over Ontario. She balances her schedule between teaching and conducting at Queen's University in Kingston during the week, and rehearsals and performances weekends in Toronto. In 2018, Sarah joined Blythwood Winds, a prestigious professional woodwind quintet in the GTA.
From 2016 to 2018, Sarah held the principal flute position with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra and also taught at the University of Saskatchewan during her time there. In 2019, she was invited back to perform Christos Hatzis' Concerto for Flute 'Departure' with the SSO, which was received with rave reviews.
Sarah's previous orchestra engagements include Symphony Nova Scotia in Halifax from 2008-2010, and Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco in Guadalajara, Mexico in 2014.
Sarah received Bachelor of Arts from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, and Master's Degree in Contemporary Performance from Manhattan School of Music in New York, NY.
Her upcoming performance engagements includes a solo faculty recital at Isabel Bader Center for the Arts in Kingston on February 4th, 2022. Over the pandemic, Sarah opened her online teaching studio to mature adult students who wish to bring beauty and discipline into their everyday lives. She is ecstatic to finally be able to share live music for a live audience at Caledon Music Festival.
